Economy and Business in Agartala

Like most of the other cities in Tripura, Agartala is too depended on agriculture. However, a sizable number of people are also engaged in state and central government, government owned enterprises and private employment. Agriculture forms an important part in the economy of Agartala. Most of the population in Agartala are engaged in agriculture and a good part of the revenue of the city comes from agriculture. Paddy is the principal crop here. The other agricultural crops are jute, sugarcane, wheat, coconut and turmeric. Rubber plantation also finds a special mention in the agriculture of Agartala. The major things exported from Agartala are rubber, tea, Agarbatti, bamboo stick, and handicrafts and gas/LPG.
